The Lecture unravels how Blockchain technology has the potential ot revolutionize the art world. This conversation explores its impact ni providing secure, transparent methods for verifying ownership, tracking provenance, and facilitating new forms of digital art, while also considering its potential to democratize access and disrupt traditional market structures.
Moderated by Justin Gilanyi - WhereArt.Works, and organised by Omar Fahra for Reimagined. With Alfredo Cramerotti and Auronda Scalera. The Lecture takes place in Auditorium, Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi Art.
among the key questions tackled, there were:
• How does blockchain reframe authenticity and ownership?
• What new curatorial models are emerging from decentralized systems?
• How can traditional institutions participate in this shift?
Dr. Alfredo Cramerotti
What direction do you see the media landscape of the GCC heading in?
What do you think the young people of the GCC are thinking about right now?
How are memes crossing cultural boundaries?
Auronda Scalera:
How did your curatorial history prepare you for work in the GCC?
What are avenues forward that you see for augmented reality implementation in the world? In the GCC?
What have you learned about your practice since beginning work in the GCC?

The lecture and debate took place in occasion of an exhibition organised by Reimagined for Abu Dhabi Art, featuring the following artists:
Burner by James Bloom (burner.is): Burner is a dynamic digital artwork that transforms live blockchain activity into an ever-evolving visual experience, using real images of gas to symbolize the intensity and unpredictability of network processes beyond human control.
Gazers by Matt Kane (gazers.art): Gazers is a generative art series of 1,000 evolving works that mirror the lunar cycle, using algorithmic design to transform in rhythm with the moon—each piece acting as a living artwork that subtly shifts in color, pattern, and motion to reflect the passage of time and the cyclical nature of existence.
Infinite Garden by Leander Herzog (infinite-garden.xyz): Infinite Garden transforms collectors into digital gardeners, cultivating ever-evolving generative flora that grow, merge, and interact through blockchain technology, creating a living, real-time artwork that responds to its environment and reimagines the blockchain as an expressive, collaborative medium.
Lifeforms by Sarah Friend (lifeforms.supply): Lifeforms redefines digital ownership by turning NFTs into living entities that require ongoing care, each must be given away within 90 days to survive, transforming collectors from owners into caretakers and challenging the traditional art market’s notions of possession, permanence, and value.
PXL DEX by Kim Asendorf (pxl.onl/dex): PXL DEX is a series of fully on-chain, real time animations, where each pixel is a token. Each of the 256 works in the collection is an abstract 3D animation called a Deck that can be purchased as an NFT and augmented with additional PXL tokens purchased by the collector that manifest as pixels in the artwork.
Salt by Loucas Braconnier and 0xmons (https://figure31.com/salt?about): SALT is a generative NFT series that exposes the invisible world within digital photography—transforming raw camera sensor data and noise into shifting visual abstractions that cycle endlessly, erasing fixed ownership and inviting viewers to experience the pure, ever-changing essence of the digital image.
Terraforms by Mathcastles (https://outland.art/terraforms-by-mathcastles/): Terraforms features unique digital landscapes generated and stored entirely on the Ethereum blockchain. Each piece uses ASCII characters to create three-dimensional terrains within specific coordinates of a virtual space, with appearances determined by parameters like elevation, position, and "moon phases."
Along with a new release by James Bloom called Half Cheetah (https://jamesbloom.net/Half-Cheetah-1), which is not related to blockchain. It features a reinforcement learning AI agent that learns to control a quadruped body in a 3D environment.
