Harald Smykla's Movie Protocols are pictographic shorthand notations of films, created in real time as he watches them. This mapping of film through synchronous drawing generates its own visual language.
Details of Exhibition
Over the weekend of 25th - 28th November, Harald will be making Movie Protocols of four films, on the 1st floor mezzanine in QUAD, while the films are simultaneously being screened in QUAD Cinemas as part of the ID Fest programme. The usually passive process of watching a movie turns into a personal, even physical performance of cinematic re-interpretation.
