Outline: Ten women, ten warriors, ten goddesses who don’t need the male gaze anymore. “The male gaze” was a term first coined in 1975 by feminist film critic, Laura Mulvey, to describe a masculine point of view across movies and literature in which women are presented as the objects of the male pleasure. Mulvey states that the female characters in question have no direct influence on the plot, and merely serve as a support or a sexual object for the male. A question that quickly – and often - comes up in our mind is: How do women and female-identifying artists represent themselves according to their own vision?

In the past, women (in the large sense of the term) were represented such as muses or object/subject of desire, but the NFT movement provides a new vision of themselves, a real vision. No longer muses or subjects to scrutiny, they are warriors, fighters, present-day goddesses that deal constantly with their minds and bodies and choices and with people that want to decide about their rights for all these. Carolee Schneemann, a radical feminist artist that changed the history of body art, said “I AM BEING MY BODY”.  And being your body is a hard path in life, in particular, if you are a woman. As curators, we realised that through the NFT movement they feel finally free to be like they want, without men (or male-identifying gatekeepers) suggesting or even imposing another vision for their identity.

Disney princesses, Lara Crofts, and Victoria's Secrets models are definitely passé in this Century, and for good reasons: because to be a hero today you have heart, wisdom, sharpness, and grace; and less muscles. Finally.

XXNFT is an art curating, collection intelligence & publishing platform focused on the work of women, female-identifying and non-binary artists working with NFTs. We focus on female artists because, when NFT narratives don’t celebrate women, they reiterate a marginalization that happened many times in art history (and not only in art). We want to emphasize the women’s presence in the application of NFT technology to the art form from the start to alter the record. The women we focus on via interviews, features, and curated collection of artworks represent globally diverse populations, communities, and politics.

Decentral Art Pavilion is an IRL NFT International Art Exhibition. The Pavilion opened its doors in parallel with the 2022 Venice Art Biennale, featuring acclaimed artists such as Beeple, Xcopy, Snowfro, Trevor Jones, Coldie, Hackatao, Matt DesLauriers, Robert Alice, Piter Pasma, Rhea Mayers, Skygolpe, Ryan Koopmans, Dmitri Cherniak, Maxim Zhestkov, Casey Reas, among others. Decentral Art Pavilion brings relevant transcultural contemporary art in partnership with curators, galleries, independent artists groups, and art institutions from around the world. Our mission is to open the doors to a constructive dialogue between the mainstream art world and the newly NFT space. Many of our established artists’ works are in international museums and in prominent collections.
