Since its inception in 1989, the Open has functioned as a call-out to artists of any age and residing place to enter, with an exhibition of the selected artworks taking place at MOSTYN , and a prize of £10,000 awarded to a single artist or collective. A prize of £1000 will also be awarded to the People's Choice, which will be determined by the artist who receives the most votes from the visiting public during the exhibition's run.

Details of Exhibition

This year,  MOSTYN  Open 19 took the idea of being open a step further. For the first time the gallery invited work from a wide range of disciplines to be considered; from fine and applied arts, to design, fashion and graphic communication. The works selected reflect this diversity, as well as the international reach of the Open, with artists from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal and the  USA , as well as from across the UK.

The Winner of the £10,000 prize of the Open 19 Award was Serena Porrati .  
     
MOSTYN  Open 19 has been selected by  Claire Norcross, Designer;  Philip Hughes, Director of Ruthin Craft Centre;  Marinella Senatore, Artist;  Adam Carr, Visual Arts Programme Curator of  MOSTYN;  Alfredo Cramerotti, Director of  MOSTYN and you, the visiting audience, for the People's Choice.
